Santa is a small business owner that personalizes gifts for all occasions. 1st Birthday Gifts are top quality products for every moment of life, big or small, from birthdays and anniversaries to births and graduations. The catalog’s extensive selection of products includes children’s clothing, photo frames, glassware, accessories and many other things.

The essence of the work

The client had a working online-store on the Shopify platform, which did not suit her. The Shopify platform is easy to install and manage, but its disadvantages are the limited functionality, the inability to customize at the request of the client, and the lack of access to the server.

The purpose of this project was to transfer the current store to another platform and expand the functionality.

How we did it

Before starting work with an online store, we chose the Magento2 platform, in which we have already become truly professionals. We demonstrated all the functionality that this platform provides to the client. And we selected a Magento2 theme that suited the client’s style.

Magento2 theme installation and customization.

We selected Magento2 for the client, deployed it, configured it according to all the rules and installed the selected theme on the server. Next, we proceeded to the implementation of customization. Since the theme allowed for very flexible reconfiguration of both visual and functional elements, we recreated and improved the style of the client already on the new site.

Not only the client’s media content was used in the design of the site, but also the icons and graphics that came with the theme, as well as our own design elements.

Product migration and functional customization.

Our task was to flexibly migrate all categories and products from the Shopify platform to Magento2. The difficulty was that the architectures of these systems are quite different. Therefore, we had to develop a special tool for migration, and then also redo the category and product structures in the Magento2 admin panel manually. Despite all the difficulties, we successfully coped with this, not only without losing the product settings, but also adding several attributes, to set up filters and searches later.

ACHIEVED RESULT

Santa’s main requirement was to have the site released by Christmas. We did a great job, overcoming doubts and satisfying the various wishes of the client. In addition to fulfilling the agreements according to the technical documentation, we managed to meet the deadlines and release the site live at the end of November.

Santa, as a creative person, is always full of ideas, so her website is constantly changing. But it’s better to look at the worthwhile result – both in the pictures on this page and on the live site. We are proud of our work!
